Killer Chat is a narrative-driven graphic novel and dating-sim experience. It follows the story of Winters, a writer investigating a serial killer character for a novel. So, Winters gains access to a mystery chat system whose members openly talk about murders, crime scenes, and genuine cases. What begins as an extreme roleplaying community turns much more unpleasant when a murder mentioned in the server makes the news.
The core of the gameplay is communication and choice. Winters has to convince the other members of the server that she's supposed to be there, and that means making up a plausible backstory and then adhering to it as the discussions go on. Consistency is a significant aspect of the story, as a reply that appears innocent in one conversation could be problematic later.
Personalities Add Layers
The game also features dating-sim elements. Winters can get to know the folks behind the nicknames, join in private conversations, and forge relationships as the story unfolds.
The characters are not only hurdles for Winters and the ending. Their personalities, likes and dislikes, and reactions generate different possibilities for the plot.

Winters says she has a very specific reason for being interested in serial killers. Then someone else asks a follow-up question to that assertion.
